Wish You Were Here

Wish You Were Here

The soft sand crumbles at my feet
First steps on this virgin sheet
I trace your face in the sands
Details engraved by my hands
As the grains cling on to each
I'm walking alone on this beach

The waves roar with a steady beat
Cold water rushes against my feet
It sends a shiver of your pain
And memories, that in a hallow refrain
I can sense the sea will preach
I'm walking alone on this beach

The sun has begun its withered flight
Vermilion skies endure the last light
I make my way back to my boat
Hollowed, like me and kept afloat
Rudderless, no wave it will breach
I'm walking alone on this beach

The beauty of this cold night
Steady surging water's might
I long for you as cold tears run
Last breath on your fateful turn
A joyous world I can never reach
I'm walking alone on this beach
