June Clouds

June Clouds

I see June clouds when I open my eyes
They tumble and rush from the sea
Heavy, more black than gray
Floating much closer to me, laden
Much below the wispy white ones
Who were my play mates of old
And still stop by, once a while

The June clouds, I also feel inside
They swell as they move, combine even
They draw on my memories
Which heated by a distant longing
Rise up, a steam and feed the clouds
Swell them, load them even
And bring them close to me

In these June clouds now I peer
To see a face, a kind loving memory
Whose shapes I draw as they rush
Through their blitzkrieg of emotions
A fully loaded bomb run squadron
Too close, yet too far above
Beyond the reach of my flak

But these are June clouds, bullish
I tell myself, we are all OK
Let these ones pass, bear it
The swelter, the sweat
There will days with rain coming
Days with fresh life, fresh music too
Days of starts and beautiful memories

Don't let these June clouds fool you
It's a stark, sharp cry from within
These are beautiful too
These bring life too, you know that
But not where you are, go out
Go to the mountains which trap them
And make them rain on you

June clouds, don't let them pass by ...
