As You Stand By The Window

As You Stand By The Window

I see you today by the window
Leaning out
Hands folded on the sill
Cold, bare
Shoulder tickled by hair
Fluttering
As you stare through the street
Eyes stern
Lost, unyielding like stone
Lips pursed
Your hand then moves to the brow
Stays, supports
As you lean your head
Eyes shut
As you take a deep breath
Let loose
A stray strand of hair over your face
Eyes open
A hand then brushes aside the hair
And tucks
Behind the ear as you feel it
Soft, again
Hand then rests on the sill
Quiet
As you stare through the street
Alone, aloof
A quick sigh, you look now at the cafe
Spotted, caught
Staring as I am at your little act
Staggering
I fumble, startled by your eyes
That poise
Hands on the sill with intent
Neck craned
Watching my every move
I blush
Not red or pink, but warm
Coffee spilt
Runs down the table to my shoe
Soaked through
Pages of my diary where I write
About you
Smudged ink, blurred words
Keen look
On your face as you watch me
Clean up
You vanish then, inside the room
As I catch
The faint curl of your lips - smile
It glows
Within me as you make another day
Complete

When she looks at me

Collapse
When she holds my hand
And rights her steps

Collapse
When she stares me down
And all my thoughts
Boomerang

Collapse
When she walks on by
And I am not in her gaze
I'm left stranded, but she
Then turns and winks

Collapse
When she calls me
Late in the night
Lifts off my strain
Puts me to sleep as
She sings our lullaby

Collapse
When she sits by my bed
A faint smile in her eyes
Caresses my face, chest
Loses herself in me
And as I draw her closer
We are one again

Boarding The Bus

Boarding The Bus

I see her in the bus every morning
She boards someplace before mine
She's in her own little cocoon
While my existence fumbles about
Stealing glances through the crowd

Today I reach the stop late
And see the bus leaving
I give a hard chase
And the bus relents
I board out of breath
Doubled over and panting
With hands on my knees
I raise my head
And see her sitting there
Tenderly gazing into my eyes

Frozen, I'm held by her gaze
An immobile, inarticulate fool
And then with a smile when she lets me go
I shut my eyes tight
Throw back my head
And to myself ... smile ...
